An Evening of English Song
24th March 2013
Musical Director - David Podd
Maltings Arts Theatre, St Albans
The early twentieth century was a golden age for English song: the words of Shakespeare, Housman, Yeats, Hardy and Auden captured so evocatively in the music of Britten, Butterworth, Finzi, Gurney, Howells, Quilter, Warlock and Vaughan Williams.
In An Evening of English Song, five singers perform works by these composers, exploring a musical landscape that is quintessentially English, yet haunted by the march of time.
Julie Gray - Soprano | Rod Morris - Counter-tenor | Steve Jones - Tenor
Ben Lewis - Baritone | Ed White - Baritone
